  • The Supreme Court on Monday decided to hear a petition seeking a CBI inquiry into another fake encounter killing in the state along with the Sohrabuddin Sheikh case. A bench comprising Justices Arijit Pasayat and D K Jain tagged the petition, filed by the father of one Pranesh Kumar Pillai, alias Javed Shaikh with the Sohrabuddin case. Javed was allegedly killed in an encounter in 2004. The father, Gopinathan Pillai, contended that even after three years the police had failed to produce any evidence to show that his son had any terrorist links.

He accused the Gujarat police of murdering his son in the guise of an encounter which was planned and executed to enhance the image of the Modi Government. Besides Pillai, three others including a woman, were also killed in the encounter that took place in the outskirts of Ahmedabad.
