SP celebratory firing kills boy

Sporadic violence involving SP workers broke out in UP in which a 12-year-old boy,Danish,was killed in one incident and in another,two people were injured

Sporadic violence involving SP workers broke out in UP on Tuesday in which a 12-year-old boy,Danish,was killed in one incident and in another,two people were injured. SP leader Akhilesh Yadav condemned the violence and assured that action will be taken against the guilty.

The police said Danish died after being hit by a bullet during celebratory firing,allegedly by supporters of SP candidate from Sambhal Iqbal Mahmood.

In Firozabad,two people were injured,with one taking gunshot wounds,as supporters of defeated SP candidate Azim Bhai clashed with the police.

A group of SP workers created a ruckus after 17 EVMs at Babina constituency of Jhansi developed technical snag when the party candidate was trailing behind his BSP rival. Led by the candidate,SP workers allegedly misbehaved with the police and staff at the counting centre,and damaged the equipment of mediapersons.
