Samajwadi Party workers protest against the rise in prices of essential commodities in Allahabad on Wednesday.
The party has urged Governor B L Joshi to immediately convene a session of Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha to discuss problems related to law and order situation and condition of farmers in the state. Speaking to mediapersons in Lucknow, senior SP leader and Leader of the Opposition in Vidhan Sabha,Shivpal Singh Yadav, blamed the Mayawati government for problems faced by farmers and said the Assembly session would help in working out the ways and means for providing relief to them.
There had been merely 10 days of sittings this year against the required 90 days and the Winter Session should be convened at the earliest,he said. Alleging serious anomalies in paddy procurement,Yadav said that a nexus of ministers, officials of the CM secretariat and hoarders was involved in it.
In reality, there is no shortage of either rice or fertilizers. It is due to the shortcomings in the system, which benefits the hoarders and middlemen, Yadav said.
