After Sena chief Bal Thackeray criticised Tendulkar for saying that "Mumbai is for all Indians", his party's Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut questioned the veteran batsman's contribution to Maharashtra in Sena mouthpiece 'Saamna'.

Comparing Tendulkar and fellow Mumbaikar Sunil Gavaskar, Raut said, "There has been no instance of Sachin extending a helping hand to other Marathi cricketers. Forget others, he did not even support Vinod Kambli."

"In contrast, Gavaskar when he captained India, had half the team drawn from Mumbai and Maharashtra. He gave Test caps to many Marathi players including Suru Naik and Zulphikar Parkar at least for one match," he said.

Shukla ridiculed the latest attack, saying, "Since Thackeray has restrained himself from writing anything against Sachin Tendulkar, his newspaper's editor Sanjay Raut, who is also my colleague in Rajya Sabha, has started."

"I think he should realise that by criticising Tendulkar, he is only harming his own party. Whatever he says against Tendulkar will reduce his party's votebank in Maharashtra because no Maharashtrian is liking what they are saying," he said.

Congress Rajya Sabha MP and BCCI's Finance Committee chairman Rajeev Shukla ridiculed Shiv Sena's latest verbal attack on senior batsman Sachin Tendulkar, saying the party was only harming its own image by criticising the revered cricketer.

I agree with SaamnaBy: sam | 02-Dec-2009 Reply | Forward sachin tendulkar is lucky to get a natural talent, i cannot play like him bec i am not talented, local people should get there rights, looks at redindians in america, this is what he is talking about, do you think any other state does that and allow non locals to rule and local to go in dustbin, I think sachin should stick to cricket and not to politics,
Bal Thackerey Family immigrated from M.P.By: R Thakrey | 23-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward I am really happy to see the Sena target Sachin. They are striking the last nails in their coffins. Do you think we Maharashtrians are idiots? Doesn't the Sena realise people can see through their game? Why all this 'tamasha' post elections? They got a good beating in the recent elections, Sena was relegated to no. 4 in Maharashtra. What has the Sena did for Maharashtrians, other than Thackeray and family make money for themselves. His son Uddhav is an utter failure, their leader for the assembly Mr. Kadam lost the elections and Mr. Bal Thackeray abused Maharashtrians for their defeat. If sachin decides to contest elections against any of the Thackerays from anywhere in India, he'll win. Thackeray's family itself has immigrated from Balaghat, M.P. The original inhabbitants of Mumbai are Kolis (fishing community) not Thackerays. People have given their opinion in their ballots, how loud a cat meows now doesn't matter - thanks Mr. Raut for writing your own obituary !!
ignore junk like saamnaBy: varun | 23-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward not only for sachin but also for every indian in any state country should come first rather than state.the freedom fighters whose names have been published in saamna have strived hard for a united country .lets keep up ther pride by showing true patriotism like sachin.i think we should ignore the trash published in this misleading paper
sachin's battingBy: richard | 23-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward The family speaks about Marathi interest however it has done little to help the Maharashtrian youth to prepare themselves of administering this state well. If we let this family to rule over us using the shield of language, tomorrow they will make all Maharashtrians to stones at one another while they enjoy the fruits of unrestrained power.
This is Divide and Rule policyBy: Rizwan | 23-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Bal/Raj/Udhav thackeray there policy is british policy, Divide and Rule. 1) Divide on Religion basis (Hindus, Muslims, others... 2)Divide on Area basis (Maharashtra, UP, South India, others...) 3) Criticise politicians, cricketers, Filmstars to gain publicity or to rule on them. Being Indian we have to raise our voice against such evil acts. Jaago India ...."Halla Bol" ...
