Refusing to give any urgent relief to singer Rabbi Shergill, the Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to pass any directions on his plea seeking deletion of a song in the recently released film Sorry Bhai. Shergill has claimed the copyright for the song.

After senior counsel KTS Tulsi mentioned the matter seeking an urgent hearing, a bench comprising Justices Arijit Pasayat and S H Kapadia asked him to wait for the matter to come up in the regular course.

The singer has alleged that one of the film’s song Jalte Hain is based on a composition from his album Avengi Ja Nahi. Seeking deletion of the song from the film, he had first approached the Delhi High Court.

The High Court did not consider his plea for deletion of the song but directed the music producer and four others associated with the song to maintain full accounts of the movie’s collection, the sale of the audio and video cassettes and CDs and file them from time to time in the court, pending final adjudication of the case.

The film was released on Friday last after a division bench of the Delhi High Court vacated an injunction passed by a single judge of the court.
