WADA code on ICC agenda
Dubai: The anti-doping code, preparations for the 2011 World Cup and the post-2012 FTP will top the agenda when the ICC chief executives’ committee sits down for its last meeting of the year here on Monday and Tuesday. The Decision Review System will also be discussed. The two-day meet, to be chaired by ICC Chief Executive Officer Haroon Lorgat, will also consider the hosts for the 2013 Champions Trophy. “Among the matters up for discussion are the ICC events for the period 2012-2020 and beyond as well update on decision review system (DRS), online piracy and the Future Tours Programme post-2012,” an ICC statement said.
PCB seeks help
Karachi: The Pakistan Cricket Board is seeking the ICC’s guidance to resolve a row with international news agencies which boycotted the national team’s first Test in New Zealand to protest the PCB’s accreditation rules and conditions. “In fact, the news agencies covered the Champions Trophy and Pakistan’s one-day series in Abu Dhabi under the existing terms and conditions for accreditation,” a PCB official said. “We are discussing things with them and we told them to cover the first Test under old terms and we will resolve this issue soon. But they didn’t agree,” he said.
CSA probes fan response Newlands: Cricket South Africa has appointed a marketing survey agency to look into the possible reasons behind poor attendances at the matches against England. The Wanderers Stadium attracted 16600 spectators for the first Pro20 match while 7934 spectators attended SuperSport Park in Centurion where South Africa won the second Pro20. CSA CEO Gerald Majola said: “We like hearing from the fans. The last fan survey we ran provided some insights, some of which we have already followed up on. People asked for more information so we launched our Facebook and Twitter platforms which have dramatically improved our interactions with fans.”
