In just two months,the swine flu patients count in Pune has crossed the 300 mark,with a total of 304 persons suffering from swine flu (H1N1) virus. On Monday till 2 pm,the swine flu control cell in Pune had registered 18 new positive cases.
Dr A S Ladda,Joint Director of Health,who has been given the additional charge of heading the swine flu control cell,said a total of 127 samples were sent for testing for the H1N1 virus at the National Institute of Virology (NIV). Out of this,74 samples were from Pune and 46 from Mumbai. From Pune,18 have tested positive for the virus and 33 from Mumbai. Now Mumbai has a total of 81 cases and Satara a total of 25 cases,with Pune leading the tally at 304.
The health department has decided to issue the figures only till 2 pm,as tests of the remaining samples will be reported late in the evening from the NIV. These figures will be announced the next day,Ladda said. Meanwhile,39 patients are undergoing treatment at Naidu Hospital and 24 at Aundh General Hospital,he said.
