TV channel goes off air after report on Raman

While Excise Commissioner G S Mishra refused to comment,Thakur did not respond to phone calls.

A TV channel,which was running a report about Chief Minister Raman Singh’s alleged involvement in a mining scam,was taken off air across Chhattisgarh with channel owners claiming “dadagiri by the government” and the latter accusing the operators of “blackmailing”.

Etv MP’s Chhattisgarh bureau chief Shailesh Pandey said: “This is dadagiri… cable operators have been asked to switch off our channel. If you disagree with a report,refute it. We ran a balanced story — the allegations against the CM and his response.”

“We got a call from Deputy Excise Commissioner Thakur ( RS Thakur) department in Raipur after the story was aired. Excise officials asked us to take Etv MP off air,” said Ashok Agarwal of Hathway Bhaskar CCN Pvt Ltd. While Excise Commissioner G S Mishra refused to comment,Thakur did not respond to phone calls.
