  • After storming the Taj Mahal hotel, terrorists ran up to the residential suite of the general manager, Karambir Kang, the exact location of which they appeared to know. The general manager’s wife, Neeti, and their two children — Uday (14) and Samar (5) — were killed in a fire that followed.

Such a precise attack, according to hotel employees who spoke to The Indian Express on the condition that their names not be used, shows the degree of planning and calculation behind the terrorists’ attack and the hold-up. These sources said that the number of dead in the hotel could be “much higher” than the estimated 80 to 100.

Sources said that the gunmen entered the hotel after the shootout at Leopold’s Restaurant at around 9:30. The manner in which they entered the Taj seemed to show that they were very well-acquainted with the hotel: they entered the Palace Wing through the La-Pat Door and then headed to the main entrance.

The La-Pat door is normally shut to the public. However, due to corporate meetings scheduled for that evening, as well as a wedding, this door was left open.

The two gunmen marched straight to the main lobby and opened fire. They were armed with AK-47s and satchels of grenades — one carrying three, the other two slung over his shoulder and in front, they met with other gunmen.

Mumbai carnageBy: Raje | 29-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward Time has come to say " Enough is Enough " and act decisively against Terrorism. There is no way to stop this kind Terrorist attack .Only Vigilant intelligence Agencies, alert police force and responsible Citizen of our country can avert this kind of Terrorist attack. we are living with Terrorist strike for last Twenty years or so. now days it become very frequent and affect morale of the common man . only solution for this problem is strike at root cause of the problem. First of all keep our defense forces ready with all kind of weapons including Nuclear bomb. After detail planning ( even it can take One year).strike across the border with all our defense forces and capture neighbor country , who aids and abets Terrorism . clean up that country of Terrorist and fanatic elements and rule that country for Two to three years . Once we are sure that this type of inhuman activity never comes out of that country , make over that country to its people and come back to our base.
Mumbai 26/11By: Abhery Roy | 28-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward My heart goes out to all those hwo lost their loved ones in the Mumbai tragedy. It is an unfortunate event and what are the politicians doing? What kind of intelligence authorities does the nation have?Is there any place where we can traverse without fear? Why should the innocent people be killed? And we are fighting over petty issues like Punjabis or bengalis or Tamilians are infiltrating Mumbai. The country really needs to awaken. It is shocking that there is no unity even at this grimm moment.Though I have never been to Mumbai and thankfully my friends who live there were here then. 5o hours of terror is no easy feat and we have let it happen to our country.A 2 year old became an orphan for no fault of his and there is no dearth of human tragedy. The city is no longer the same or rather it is correct to say that the nation of diversities is no more secure.Hats off to the armed forces,NSG and police though for an overwhelming task.I only pray for those who have lost their lives.
TADABy: Hacharan singh | 28-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward BJP is the best political party to address the threat of terrorism, appreciating its danger the party had brought in the anti terrorism act only to be repealed by the Congress when it came to power this term. Indians use your ballot paper wisely to bring in this Act again
