Vicky Chandhok Formula One driver Karun Chandhoks father has said that Karun is still negotiating with Team Lotus Racing to seal a test drivers slot. Chandhok,the Federation of Motorsports Club of India (FMSCI) president,said that his sons first objective was to sign for the team and then look to take it forward from there on. He is still in the process of talking. Im not sure how fast he will settle it, Chandhok said on the sidelines of a press briefing on Friday. Obviously,he wants to sign for Lotus. But I dont want to get into the details. But as far as I know he wants to get a slot with the idea that he gets to race at the Indian GP here, he added. India is slotted their first F1 race in the 2011 season at Noida in October the season finale. According to reports,Karun,currently in Jerez,Spain,will test the new Malaysia-based outfit car anytime over the weekend. He is also slotted for another test later in Barcelona. The Malaysian team has Finlands Heikki Kovaleinen and Italian Jarno Trulli as drivers,and are still looking for a reserve driver. Chandhok became only the second Indian F1 driver after Narain Karthikeyan,signing with Hispania Racing Team (HRT) last year. He drove 10 races before being replaced by Sakon Yamamoto. Formula pacific gets Indian name JK Tyre has bagged the title sponsorship of Formula Pacific Series after signing on the dotted line with Motorsport Asia. Formerly known as the Formula BMW specific,it has been renamed as the JK Racing Asia Series. BMWs pull out from the Formula One circuit,as well as from other racing partnerships,opened a window for the Indian tyre major. Besides being the title sponsors,JK Tyres takes over from Michelin as the sole tyre supplier for the series. We were looking for a new partnership after BMW pulled out. I had a discussion with Vicky Chandhok during the Singapore GP last year if JK could come on board. Everything has moved quickly since, Motorsport Asia CEO David Sonenscher said. As per the calender that was also released on Friday,18 races are to be held,including three support races for Formula One Malaysias Sepang circuit,Singapores Marina Bay circuit,and finally Indias showcase event the Indian GP to be held during 28-30 October.
