City-based energy and environment solutions provider Thermax Limited, has received Rs 477.77-crore order from a leading conglomerate in Orissa for constructing and commissioning a turnkey captive power plant for its ferro alloy unit in Orissa.

For the 2 x 60 MW power plant, using coal washery rejects as fuel, Thermax will provide two boilers using CFBC (circulating fluidised bed combustion) technology. It will also supply the air pollution control, water treatment and effluent treatment systems for the power plant.

Thermax has pioneered energy generation from coal washery rejects in India, and this order is the latest among several projects commissioned across the country.
