The Special Task Force of the Kolkata police on Tuesday arrested three Bangladeshi nationals, whom they claim are members of the Shahid Bilal group, a terrorist outfit in Pakistan. While one of them was involved in the fidayeen attack on the STF office in Hyderabad in October 2005, another was involved in the attack on the Patna-Delhi Shramjeevi Express in Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh in July 2005, said Rajeev Kumar, joint commissioner, STF.
The three Md Abdullahil Baki (23), Md Tahidur alias Madhu (27) and Abdur Rehaman alias Nafis Zafar (21) were arrested at around 12.30 pm from a bus depot in Babughat in central Kolkata.
We have recovered fake currency worth Rs 30 lakh, several secret documents, including maps of the city and various districts of the state, from them. They had forged driving licences, voter identity cards and passports, said Kumar.
The ultras were trained in Pakistan by Lashkar-e-Toiba commanders and later joined the Harkat-ul-Jehad-e-Islami (HuJI). At present they work for the Shahid Bilal group in Pakistan, funded by the HuJI and LeT, said the STF joint commissioner. A senior Intelligence Branch official said the motive of the ultras were yet to be ascertained.
