On the opening day, Rizvi Sports Club were placed at a score of 183 for the loss of seven wickets against Total Vengsarkar Cricket Academy in the two-day final of the 13th late Ajit Naik Memorial U/14 selection trials cricket tournament, organized by Worli Sports Club under the auspices of Worli Sports Club.

Rizvi, who won the toss and elected to bat, were in deep trouble initially when they lost both their openers for no score on the board. But Karan Vasodia and Sarafaraj Khan controlled the proceedings thereafter and took the score to 60/2 at the lunch break.

They continued their dominance after the lunch break also. The duo then added 134 for the third wicket when slow left-arm bowler Siddharth Gule gave his team the break they were looking for when he clean bowled Vasodia.

Vasodia made 54 runs after facing 179 balls and hitting two fours in his innings. Sarafaraj Khan then added 31 runs for the fourth wicket with Arman Jaffar but the other batsmen did not offer much resistance and could not stay on at the wicket.

Sarafaraj Khan scored 86 runs with the help of eight fours befor he too failed to read Gule. Total Vengsarkar bowlers Vikrant Khanvilkar, Siddharth Gule and Kaizar Dafedar took two wickets each to restrict their opponents to 183 for 7 at the end of the first day’s play.
