The 26th of June is the
    World Drug Day

A day that is commemorated by citizens and governments across the globe as a reminder of a pledge they make year after year to stay away from drugs. It is also a day on which individuals, young and old make a promise to help those around them to stay way from drugs too.

The 26th of June was established by the United Nations (UN) as a day to mark the fight against drug use in 1987. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is the UN agency leading the international campaign to raise awareness about the major challenge that illicit drugs represent to society as a whole, and especially to the young. In 2006, the UNODC launched an anti-drugs campaign entitled “Do drugs control your life? Your life. Your community. No place for drugs.” which is the theme for this year’s WORLD DRUG DAY with a special focus on the youth.

As a result of this campaign thousands of youth around the world have realised the damage that drugs can do to their health, relationships and their futures. They are making sure that they stay away from it, with a decision to give up their habits or making sure they don’t start it in the first place. We are certain that you, students of Delhi will also join the United Nations and the rest of the world in taking decisions that are your own only and keeping yourselves away from drugs.
