If you’re a poet and you know it,then take your place on stage at the Friday Poetry Slam at Café Oz in Khan Market. Organised by the Bombay Elektrik Projekt (BEP),a Mumbai-based multi-format collective of poets, artists, musicians,DJs and filmmakers, the poetry slam is an initiative to promote live poetry and performances in the capital. “We’ve run this format very successfully for over a year in Mumbai and we wanted to bring it to Delhi . The idea is to have an informal evening of sharing poetry,” says Sudeip Nair,29,who along with a couple of friends began the collective last year. The first couple of poetry readings will not be of the slam sort, there will be no competition between the poets. “We’re trying to build a platform for poets to perform their work,as soon as we have enough numbers and enthusiasts in the city,we will begin the slam,” says Nair. BEP has also tied up with UTV World Movies to screen some of the best in world

cinema at a bar near you. “We’ve joined hands with The Park Hotel to hold film screenings at Agni, every second Tuesday. Since we’re constantly looking to promote local talent in the music and poetry scene,a local band performs after every screening,” says Nair. The film being screened this evening is the Korean romantic-comedy My Little Bride and Delhi-Chandigarh band,The Local Train will perform tonight.
