Freida Pinto, Dev Patel visit zoo on a date
Los Angeles: Slumdog Millionaire couple Freida Pinto and Dev Patel chose a zoo over expensive restaurants and nightclubs to enjoy a quiet date. The couple visited the San Diego Zoo in California and also got photographs clicked with their favourite animals, reported JustJared.com. The 25-year-old Mumbai native dressed down in a checked shirt and jeans while Patel, 19, wore a black T-shirt and denims. They were introduced to a prehensile-tailed porcupine called Icana and Diego the ocelot, an endangered species of cat from South America often hunted for its beautiful fur.
1st Indian restaurant in Britain turns 200
London: It is 200 years since the first Indian restaurant was opened in Britain by a man from Bihar and Britons across the country are celebrating the event with a National Curry Week. The Hindostanee Coffee House on George Street, Portman Square, opened in London in 1809. The story goes that Sake Dean Mohamet, who was born in 1759 in Patna, joined the East Indian Company and rose to the rank of subedar. He and his friend, Captain Godfrey Baker, came to Britain in 1784 and started a new life in Ireland. National Curry Week was started in 1998 to promote the cuisine and to raise funds for charities concentrating on hunger, malnourishment and poverty.
