When world leaders will meet for the climate change conference in Copenhagen next month, Kashmir, nestled far away in the Himalayas, is where YouTube sensation Terra Naomi will hold her “Say It’s Possible” climate change concert.

The singer and songwriter’s December 7 concert is part of her India tour, to promote the idea that places that are hardly responsible for climate change suffer the most. “The areas most affected by climate change are the areas least responsible for the rapidly changing climate. I’m hoping that I can help motivate people and their governments around the world, particularly the West, to take climate change more seriously and take the responsibility to find a way to slow the damage we are doing to the planet,” said Terra.

The concert will include online music videos and appeals from Terra to support grassroots environmental projects in Kashmir, an ecologically fragile region. It is being sponsored by international development agency Mercy Corps. “Terra’s song is an opportunity to raise awareness and at the same time communicate to her fans about the situation in places like Kashmir which hardly contribute to climate change,” said Younis Anjum, one of the organisers from Mercy Corps.

In 2006, with her album Virtual Summer Tour, Terra went on to win the first-ever YouTube Award for Best Music Video

for her video, Say It's Possible. The song, she said, was inspired by former US Vice President Al Gore’s film, An Inconvenient Truth.
