Kings XI Punjab skipper Yuvraj Singh blamed batsmen for letting the team down after his side failed to progress to the semi-finals, losing Wednesday's must-win Indian Premier League match to Chennai Super Kings.

"Well, we have played a lot of pressure games like this. It is disappointing that the batsmen just didn't do the job. Unfortunately for us, nobody got going. No two batsmen got 25 runs on the board. I think that is where we lost the game," Yuvraj fumed after Punjab failed to chase a modest target of 116 runs.

"We had plans for (Muttiah) Muralitharan that we would not give him a wicket and would play him through. But as I said none of our batsmen got going. We needed someone or may be two batsmen to get at least 30 runs and it was not an easy wicket to bat on. There are no excuses, I think we batted badly," he said.

"...when we bowled them out for less than 120 I was very happy with the way we bowled. As I said our batting let us down. I can't say much."

Punjab have so far lost five matches to Chennai in the IPL but Yuvraj refuted suggestions that the defeats were result of a mental block.

"I wouldn't say that is a mental block. We have beaten Deccan Chargers four times. And Twenty20 is a version where you can't judge teams. It is a coincidence that we have lost five games to Chennai Super Kings," he said.
