Mumbai:: They were not among the hostages inside the Nariman House where the mindless Terror game was on, but being around it even cost them dearly.

Terrorists holed up inside the Jewsih building opened fire at those trying to have a glimpse from their rooftops and balconies of what was happening inside the structure.

Salim Harawala (62) and Maria Harawala (55) fell to the terrorists' gunshots in the process. Their 28-year-old son, Mohammed Harawala, was lucky enough to survive the attack as the bullet just passed above his head. He was admitted to St George hospital with minor injuries.

Mohammed, on the fateful day, after attending a family function was returning home along with his parents when a blast at a petrol pump in Colaba occurred.

Fearing danger, they decided to go to their relative's place at Shivam House adjacent to Nariman House.

The family heard some loud shots and they leaned out from the balcony. Terrorists opened fire in the air and two bullets hit Mohammed's parents, claiming their lives.

Tayeebi Gittsam, Mohammed's father-in-law, is in a state of shock.

"It is high time something is done to eradicate terrorism. How many more innocent persons are going to lose their lives.

"These people (terrorists) just want to take revenge and they don't think about the consequences and only have a motto of killing as many people as possible," he said.

Our Leaders Failed Us! by Rajesh on 2008-12-02 21:06:03.561528+05:30
Instead of finger pointing our politician specially our ruling party needs to do something more practical in ensuring at least the safety of us citizens of this country. I am not sure if we can trust the current bunch of our politicians to protect our country, as it stands right now, they do not deserve our trust nor respect. Us, the common citizens and our brave security personnel deserve better leadership. We need "change" and we need it "now". Our voters need to realize that we need "LEADERS" not "POLITICIANS". We need leaders who are committed to our country and its interests, not the politicians pursuing their self serving interests.

Do we have a national security plan? Why aren't we putting pressure on pakistan to demand extradition of important leaders of LeTand Dawood Ibrahim and his thugs? Why aren't we enlisting the help of Israel's expertise in dealing with terrorists and getting ourspecial forces trained properly? Are our borders really secure? Is our military taking appropriate steps against enlisting moles into our armed forces and other security services? Why are our coastal areas not guarded and why people living on coasts are being trained and informed about the threat we face f

Can our leaders answer the following:Why our brave soldiers do not have or did not use any night vision equipment, body armor when fighting the terrorists? Why our security personnel do not have latest and greatest quality gear, equipment and training to defend our country?Note: The death of ATS chief and other security personnel was preventable if they had quality body armor.Do we have a national security policy?

Watching the events of the day unfold and enter into 3rd day it was painfully obvious that our political and bureaucratic leadership failed us. Given the fact that this sort of attacks have happened in J

The tragedy that unfolded on 11/26/2008 in Mumbai has been an eye opener to me as a citizen. I was under the false impression that Indian Government and its various agencies have a plan of action , relevant procedures

My heart goes out for the innocent victims of the recent terror attack, including Harawalas. Had Harawals stayed indoors and curbed their curiosity, may be they would have lived. It was not film shooting which was going on; it was life threatening situation. Most of the bystanders on that fateful day did not for one moment realize that they were hindering the rescue attempt being made by our brave soldiers.
Discussion on Terror Attack by Dev Vaish on 2008-12-01 22:16:36.811848+05:30
I understand that one of the Terrorist has confessed about the Pakistani connection. Why not ask Conde Rice (visiting Secretary of State USA) to meet with this Terrorist and hear first hand about what him act the way he did. Rice should then announce to the whole world what she heard from the Terrorist, first hand. The involvement of another country, if at all, will be abundantly clear, this way. To me it is not clear why Rice should only meet Politicians and not do what is proposed above, as this can bring many things to limelight.

Represent noone by Pkchn on 2008-12-01 21:11:33.954327+05:30
The terrorists have managed to kill close to 50 Muslims in the carnage. So much for representing their brethren. They represent noone, except their narrow ideology. Gone are the days when people looked up to revolutionaries
Jews, Muslims, Hindu Saviors by Joe Crispino on 2008-12-01 20:33:42.094845+05:30
This is repeat of history. Terrorists enslaved India. Slave Indian mentality of likes of Raj ThackraY CAUSED THIS. Some are protecting Maharashtrians, some Punjabis, some Tamils and some muslims!Get united and protect India. It is about time we speak for one India not for piece parts.

"The religion of terrorism " will destroy India if all the religious people are not united tofight against the modern atomic bomb. Terrorism from any religious or political shade must not be tolerated because it brings nothing but tears, blood and death.
Nariman House casualties by Paresh V on 2008-12-01 17:19:39.384787+05:30
The terrorists' claim of trying to "save" Indian muslims is laid hollow by this and one hopes there are enough voices which debunk these claims.

Prxoy war
by John on 2008-12-02 03:56:35.271945+05:30
Believe me, this is a proxy war, it not related to terrorism or saving Muslims in India. All Pak wants is Kashmir in lieu of Bangladesh which they lost in the war supported by India.Pak does not have b a l l s to face India directly so they are engaging in a proxy war. They are terrorising and killing innocent people. It this was happening in J
