




Vishwanathan said the family had been tense for the last few days and Wednesday's result is a great relief.
The father said "it was a lone battle Anand had fought. Today, he has the entire nation behind him".
Anand's wife Aruna, who is in Bonn where Anand won the competition, told TV channels that Wednesday's victory "happened so suddenly that he was taken aback".
Asked when she and her husband would return to India, she said ""we'll think about it calmly. We will be in India possibly in another two to three weeks".
Aruna said Anand had been tense for the last few days.
The chess grand master's mother said "we are very happy about Anand's victory".
Asked what is Anand's target after having won in all the formats of the game, Aruna said "it's up to him but henceforth no finger will be pointed at him".
"I just did it", was the cryptic reaction from world chess champion Vishwanathan Anand soon after retaining the title in Bonn.
"He simply said I just did it", Anand's wife Aruna quoted her husband as saying soon after drawing his last game with Russian Vladimir Kramnik and winning the title.
Asked how they planned to celebration the achievement, Aruna said "by having a nice dinner".
