Though it is situated right in the middle of the city, yet many residents do not know that a small railway station dots the western part of Ludhiana. Situated in Model Gram near Shastri Nagar, this small railway station has only one platform because trains headed for Ferozepur halt here. But the place witnesses hustle and bustle throughout the day as a large number of people, especially senior citizens can be seen gossiping and playing cards.

The station, which is over 40 years old, is situated in a bylane of Model Gram. The road just before the Shastri Nagar railway crossing, which leads to this station also does not have any sign board about the railway station. "This place is very calm and composed," says N N Sharma, a senior citizen who lives in vicinity of the station. "I have been seeing this station for the last 40 years. Initially, there was just a tin shed but gradually this station was developed," recalls Sharma. Another senior citizen, requesting anonymity, said when he gets bored at his house, he comes to the station. "I get complete peace of mind here while mingling with my friends and passengers. I come here almost daily and the day I do not come here, I find something amiss," he quips. The passenger train offers a ride for just Rs 2 till Baddowal.
