A mother waits: He told me he would be home for Holi

It is a cat and mouse game between the militants and the military. Sometimes they kill us, sometimes we kill them. We just want our countrymen to be safe,” Captain Devinder Singh Jass of 1 Para told his father minutes before he left for an operation to flush out militants at Chinkipora in Sopore. The day-long gunbattle left the Captain and two other soldiers dead.
Though in shock, Captain Jass’s family, which lives in Ghaziabad’s Indirapuram, is proud of the 26-year-old.
His mother Dalbir Kaur says she is happy to have given a son for the nation as father Bhupender Singh Jass, a former general manager of Dabur India, takes consolation from the fact that he served the nation well. His sister Harpreet is an assistant lecturer at Jamia Millia Islamia.
Captain Jass attended Guru Harkishan Public School and went on to study computer engineering from Mathura. “He later took admission in IIIT, Allahabad,” said uncle Kulwant Singh. However, Jass had other plans and joined the Indian Military Academy, from where he graduated in 2007. He later underwent commando training.
Jass was planning to be back home for Holi. “Two days ago I talked to him and he said he would see me on Holi,” mother Dalbeer Kaur said, tears rolling down her face. On Saturday, Jass had also called one of his friends and promised to come and dance at his wedding.
The family got the news about their son’s death in the Sopore encounter on Tuesday. “I got a call from Srinagar telling me what had happened,” said the father. “We have lost everything. We had only one son...”

HE was a Brave HERO, who laid down his life for part of country which Indian secretary level talk not solved since last 40 years. Needles to talk,Donot know why these secetary officers didnot send to boarders before taking any talk. God give strenght to his family and dear one. Salute to Capt Devinder Singh.
Devinder was my batchmate at GLAITM Mathurs from where he did his B.Tech. in Computer Science. This guy turned down many lucrative job offers during campus placement and didnot go for MBA at a prestigious B-School. He always interested in joining army alas destiny had different plans for this son of the soil. This is an irreparable loss to us. Rest In Peace Jassi.
How many heroes like young Devinder will have to die for this country before our government takes a tough stand on Pakistan sponsored terrorism. The security being provided at taxpayers expense to the weak netas should be immediately withdrawn so that these netas will understand what reality is sans Z Y etc security cover. I strongly suspect that our politicians are simlply playing a game of running with hares and hunting with hounds and fooling Indian public. All these netas appear to have interests on the other side of the border so they always talk tough but act weak to protect their interests. What proof is needed when our Advani suddenly starts praising Jinnah when in Pakistan but keeps mum about him when in India. Ditto for Jaswant Singh. The kashmir imbroglio has provided a lot opportunities to dynasties of Abdullahs the Mufti Mohmad Sayeed, Mehbooba mufti, and others to prosper. Is this shedding of innocent blood a pastime for these inefficient and self seeking politicians.

God and the soldier All men adore In time of trouble, And no more; For when war is over And all things righted, God is neglected - The soldier slighted. Today we grieve the death of one more Martyr, and tomorrow will be some other. This thing has happened in the past and if impotent rulers still turn a blind eye to problem of militancy,we have to mourn over the death many of our soldiers. We salute you Devinder, for people like you makes us feel proud to be an Indian.
