Aerosmith’s Dream On is Raghu Dixit’s mantra for motivation
For me, a classic is something like Aerosmith’s Dream On. It’s been over 15 years since I first heard the track when my friends got me to listen to it. And I wasn’t surprised that I was instantly and completely hooked on to it. The lyrics, Dream on, dream on…dream until your dream come s true are so simple yet so brilliant.
The song talks about how to never give up till your dreams become a reality and it’s certainly the kind of song that I would love to sing. This one track constantly motivates me and is so fantastic that it keeps me going through thick and thin. I have it on my iTouch and it is present on almost every playlist. So I end up listening to it anytime I’m browsing through the list. The last time I must’ve heard it was about a week ago.
Aerosmith is a band that every musician has grown up listening to and each one of them has been able to relate to it in one way or the other. But as an artist, my influences have always been my country, my language, the food I eat and the people I’m surrounded by. Dream On has not shaped my musical sensibilities or influenced my music but has inspired me as a musician as well as a person. It’s a mantra I like to carry with myself so that I am motivated all the time to achieve the goals I set for myself and to keep my optimism intact. It is indeed a personal anthem for me.
