Former Telecom Minister A Raja, the key accused in the 2G spectrum scam case, was questioned by Income Tax officials here in connection with his I-T returns from 2008. Responding to summons issued by the I-T department, the senior DMK leader appeared before Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax Ramalingam along with his auditor, officials said.
Raja, who hails from neighbouring Peramblur, was questioned among others about the properties inherited and 'earned' by him, they said.
His wife Parmeswari, brother Kaliaperumal and another relative Ramachandran would also be called for questioning, the officials added.
Raja, out on bail, is facing trial in a Delhi court in the 2G case for various offences like cheating, forgery, criminal conspiracy and corruption.
