Amid entertaining performances and a variety of competitions,the three-day Rose Festival concluded on Sunday.

The two venues — Rose Garden and Leisure Valley — attracted huge crowds. During the day,various events were held.

Artists of the North Zone Cultural Centre from different states entertained the audience with their traditional folk dances.

Winners of the ‘Voice of Chandigarh 2009’ also sang on the mini-stage at Leisure Valley. An on-the-spot painting contest was held for different age groups for children.

More than 530 children participated in the competition. Resident Editor of The Indian Express Vipin Pubby was the chief guest at the event.

CFL lamps were given to all winners to teach them the importance of conserving energy.

A rose quiz was also held in the morning at the rose garden. Resident Editor of Hindustan Times,Ramesh Vinayak,was the chief guest.

Preliminary rounds of the quiz were held on February 22 and 25 in which a total of 41 teams participated. The final round of the rose quiz was held today.

Popular singer Kunal Ganjawala performed in the evening at the Leisure Valley and people danced as he belted out his hit numbers.

UT Home Secretary Ram Niwas was the chief guest at the show. Senior officers of Chandigarh administration were also present.

There was a performance by Maana Amardeep and his troop followed by another crowd-pulling performance by a rock band.
