Rashtrapati Award winner and legendary Marathi and Hindi singer-composer Sudhir Phadkes eighth death anniversary was commemorated on July 30 in Mumbai. Utsav Media presented Geet Ramayan,Sudhir Phadkes unparalleled and evergreen Marathi rendition of the Ramayan in verse written by the late legend G.D.Madgulkar. Sudhir Phadkes son,singer-composer Shridhar Phadke,performed the musical classic.
Sudhir Phadke is one of Indias greatest composers and singers,who has also done select Hindi films like Bhabhi Ki Chudiyan and produced the 2001 Veer Savarkar. His Kishore Kumar-rendered title-track from the film Paheli Tarikh (1954) was played as the first song on the first of every month on Radio Ceylon for decades.
A prolific film and non-film composer in Marathi,his timeless film scores include Vardakshina,Ekti,Gurukilli,Sher Shivaji and Aaamhi Jaato Aamucha Gaava.
