A walk on the dark side

Star Wars is, for better or worse, 20th century mythology invested with considerable cultural and personal significance. Disney also now controls the less influential, but still iconic, Indiana Jones franchise, as well as Industrial Light and Magic and Skywalker Sound, Lucas's once-proprietary production facilities. Watching Disney tighten its grip over so many aspects of our popular imagination is a source of unease. There is a stale joke there about the dangers of going over to the dark side, but I will refrain from using it.
