  • The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has asked the Gujarat government to allot land for development of airports in several cities in the state, a top AAI official said.

“The AAI has chalked out an ambitious plan for the development of existing airports at Rajkot, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, Bhuj and Vadodara. We have asked the Gujarat government to allot land for the purpose,” said AAI Chairman V P Agrawal.

On the integrated terminal building at the Harni airport here, inaugurated by Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel last week, Agrawal said it had a peak hour passenger handling capacity of 700 and an annual handling capacity of 7.30 lakh passengers.

The apron would be extended to provide parking for seven Category C type aircraft, he said.

Work on the Rs 291-crore international terminal building at Ahmedabad airport was nearing completion and would be commissioned soon, Agrawal said.
