The Nagpur unit of Aam Aadmi Party has lodged a complaint against former BJP chief Nitin Gadkari, demanding action against his "threat' to Income-Tax department officials.
Gadkari had said last week: "Who will protect I-T officials who carried out baseless campaign against me when the BJP comes to power?" He had later denied having threatened the I-T officials.
The police are "seeking legal view" on "if and how they could act on the complaint".
AAP leader Mayank Gandhi said: "No doubt the timing of I-T action against Gadkari was suspect and it could have been politically motivated, but our whole Jan Lokpal agitation is precisely for that. In Gadkari's case, I-T department has taken suo motu cognizance and proceeded against corruption in his Purti group and investigations must be allowed to take place."
When reminded that the erstwhile India Against Corruption leaders had cried foul when allegations of financial irregularities surfaced against Kiran Bedi, Gandhi said, "Bedi's wasn't a public or corruption issue. It was between a company and her."
