Of these, around 12,000 households have donated money to AAP’s cause.

With the Assembly elections just two months away, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is close to completing its door-to-door campaign in Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit’s New Delhi constituency. The seat is being contested by AAP’s Chief Ministerial nominee Arvind Kejriwal. Party sources said of the 30,000 households in the area, the party has already visited more than 23,600.

Of these, around 12,000 households have donated money to AAP’s cause. “Donations across the city range from Re 1 to upwards of

Rs 10,000,” a party source said. The 12,000 households are home to nearly 55,000 eligible voters.

In New Delhi constituency,AAP has identified 6,000 households as “inaccessible”. “These houses belong to high-ranking officials and functionaries with fixed party affiliations. Therefore,we targeted 24,000 homes out of 30,000,of which we have already visited 23,600. Only 600 households remain, which will be covered in a week or so,” a party member said.

According to party sources,AAP has covered between 19 lakh and 20 lakh of an estimated 40-lakh households in the door-to-door campaign throughout the city. According to the sources, the campaign was still on in 55 of the 70 Assembly seats in the capital.

“For the 70 seats, the names of 59 candidates have been finalised so far. Four candidates were finalised last week and door-to-door campaign in those four seats will start in earnest in the next few days,” a source said.

“While all those people who have donated to the party’s cause may not vote for AAP,it is a positive signal for the party,” a party official said.

Under AAP’s door-to-door campaign,a voters’ list has been prepared,in which households have been put under different categories. “Categories A and B list homes which are either AAP supporters or those who have donated to the party’s cause and are sympathisers. Category C lists households which are unlikely to vote and Category D lists houses where a visit is futile as they are known supporters of other parties,” the official said.
