‘Aarakshan’ not on Mandal Commission’s report: Prakash Jha

The film does not carry any context of the movement for Mandal commision.

Reflecting controversial policies of caste-based reservations,Prakash Jha’s upcoming film ‘Aarakshan’ does not take into account the movement after implementation of recommendations of the Mandal Commission.

The film does not carry any context of the movement for Mandal Commission and the infamous self-immolation by Rajiv Goswami. It is fully concentrated on the dilemma created over Mafiaism and commercialisation of the education system because of reservation, Jha said on Monday.

Stating that ‘Aarakshan’ is a vivid presentation of social truth which could be debated both in favour of or against,Jha said while a particular section of society had enjoyed reservation in educational institutions,others were deprived of the benefit.

He said the movie shows how ‘Aarakshan’ (reservation) is affecting the Indian society and how a lot,who do not even deserve to be sitting on various posts,gets job because of reservation while the ones who actually deserve to be sitting on the post are left behind.

Jha’s upcoming film stars Amitabh Bachchan,Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone,is a drama based on the caste-based reservation system in educational institutions and government jobs.

He said the movie would be released across the country on August 12.

Showering praise on megastar Amitabh Bachchan,the filmmaker said,”He is a great star and my desire to work with him has been fulfilled.”

Relpying to a question,Jha,who has directed Ajay Devgan in films like ‘Gangajal’,’Apaharan’ and ‘Raajneeti’,said it is not necessary to include him in all his projects.

“But I still have very good cordial relations with him,” he added.
