The motive of the assailant, according to the police is that the wheels of justice in India are too slow and that people are getting away for murder and worse.

The attack is entirely reminiscent of the one Utsav Sharma carried out on former DGP of Haryana SPS Rathore who was convicted for the molestation of 14-year-old tennis player Ruchika Girhotra in 1990 – she went on to commit suicide after Rathore’s goons kept harassing her family.

Rathore was attacked with a pocket-knife by Sharma,a student of the prestigious National Institute of Design(NID) in Ahmedabad.

Rathore was not seriously injured in that attack despite being slashed in the face thrice.

The young man was out on bail.
