Police,on Friday, rescued a 13-year-old boy from Jaipur, allegedly kidnapped by his own tutor in Faridabad.

The police cyber cell in Faridabad zeroed in on the tutor, who has been arrested and the boy handed back to his family.

Rahul Nagar,13,a Class VIII student, lived in his uncle’s house in Basela Colony in Sector-29 Faridabad to study at the nearby Holy Child School. It was his tutor,Nazir Ahmad, who allegedly kidnapped Rahul after giving him sedatives when he was on his way to school.

Rahul,as usual, left for school on February 3 at 8 am. At 12.30 pm,some people called Rahul’s school to inform the authorities they had found the belongings of a student near the banks of a stream in Sector-31.

“The school called us around 12.45 pm saying that our child had played truant as his bag and clothes were found near the stream. We rushed to the spot fearing he might have drowned,” said Sonpal Dhanmat,26,Rahul’s uncle.

Dhanmat and other members of the family found Rahul’s coat, badge, pocket money, identity card, and other things strewn about. They immediately called the police who started investigations. They also tried calling up Rahul’s tutor,Ahmad,to inquire about the boy’s friends at the tuition class, but Ahmad’s phone was found switched off.

“We decided to go to his tuition class to talk to him but it was also closed. We went to his home where his family told us that they hadn’t seen him since morning,” Dhanmat said.

The family then asked the police to check Ahmad’s call details and they found out that around 9 am,Ahmad was also in Sector 31 near the same stream. Police found that at 4.30 pm,he was in Rajasthan, and by 8pm,he was in Jaipur.

“We sent out our team to Jaipur with Rahul’s family because by then we started suspecting the teacher’s involvement in the kidnapping. As soon as they got to Jaipur at 6 am,they started checking in hotels,” a senior police officer said.

Dhanmat was the first to spot Ahmad in the lobby of a hotel named Utsav where he had booked a room. “When we entered his room,we found Rahul lying on the bed. He looked listless and had been heavily drugged,” Dhanmat said.

Police said Ahmad had come to know that Rahul’s father,Ravinder Nagar, owned large tracts of land in his village,Jasana, and that he was his only son. This prompted him to plan the kidnapping.

“The family did not receive any calls for ransom, but Nazir told us that he first wanted to locate a hideout for the boy and then make the ransom calls,” police said.

Rahul later told his family his teacher met him near Sector-31 and gave him something to eat after which he started feeling drowsy. The family said that Ahmad took him to Nizamudin railway station where they took a train to Jaipur.

According to the police Ahmad was taking the boy to Punjab and had already booked train tickets.
