Abhijit Kadam Cup: Abhinav English Medium wins inaugural match

Pune: Abhinav English Medium School, Erandwane, registered a sensational 3-2 victory over Vidyavalley School in the inaugural match in the boys under-17 Abhijeet Kadam Youth Invitational Inter-school football tournament at the Bharati Vidyapeeth educational complex ground here on Wednesday. The tournament will conclude on December 10 on a knockout basis and has attracted a total of 32 teams from Pune district.

Vidyavalley School got off to a fantastic start, scoring two goals in first half. Anand Sadana scored the first goal in the 14th minute on free kick, while Nachiket Ramnathan scored in the 29th minute. Abhinav English Medium School made a great comeback in the second half and made continuous attacks on the Vidyavalley side. Abhinav's Ojas Oyas scored the first goal in the 31st minute on the pass of Aniket Jadhav. Akshay Jadhav and Abhishek Shelar scored two solo goals in two minutes and helped Abhinav School for inaugural win.

Chandrakant Mokate, deputy mayor of Pune Municipal Corporation, inaugurated the tournament. Vishwajeet Kadam, vice president of Western India Football Association and president of the Poona District Football Association welcomed the guests.

Results: Abhinav English Medium School: 3 (Ojas Oyas 31st min pass by Aniket Jadhav, Akshay Jadhav 37th minute solo, Abhishek Shelar 39th min solo) bt Vidyavalley School: 2 (Anand Sadana 14th minute on free kick, Nachiket Ramnathan 29th minute, pass by Soham).
