Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan will address the Wharton India Economic Forum on Saturday.

Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan will address the Wharton India Economic Forum on Saturday,speaking as part of a panel exploring the impact of India’s booming economy on the Hindi film industry.

The 33-year-old Bachchan,along with filmmaker Rohan Sippy and PVR Cinemas Chairman Ajay Bijli,will be part of a panel on Bollywood’s Silver Screen: Pursuit of the Golden Globe at the 13th edition of the Philadelphia event.

Discussion topics will chart the growth of the industry,encompass the retailing of cinema,exploring the changing landscape in film financing and how prolific cinema-making has given way to a quality that is appreciated by a much broader audience,the Forum said in a statement on its website.

Bachchan’s father Amitabh blogged about Abhishek’s Wharton engagement,describing it as a sign of the expanding reach of Indian cinema.

“Did any of us ever dream that a day would come when this would fructify,60-70 years ago. No we did not. But this is the value that our cinema now enjoys,” the elder Bachchan said on his blog.
