Sujanil and Capgemini registered their first wins on the inaugural day of the ABIL Corporate Cricket Challenge Cup (CCCC) at the Deccan Gymkhana cricket ground on Saturday. Sujanil beat Bank Of India while Capgemini edged past Cypress Group.
In the first match of the day, Sujanil had no trouble in defeating their opponents. Electing to bat first, Sujanil suffered some early blows but were rescued by the steady innings of their opener Sujit Kalbhor (40 runs in 40 balls, 5X4). He was well supported by Jagdish Varde, who also chipped in with 29. Sujanil managed to pile up a challenging total of 163 in the stipulated 20 overs. Kedar Bhave was the only successful bowler for Bank of India picking up 3 wickets for 40 runs.
In reply, Bank of India started poorly as they lost their opener in the very first over. But Vinit Sarang waged a lonely battle scoring 45 runs off 38 balls (8X4), and was only supported by Yogesh Ghare who chipped in with 25 runs off 28 balls (1X4, 2X6). A Shete of Sujanil scalped 3 wickets for 25 runs and ensured that Sujanil won by a comfortable margin. Bank Of India were all out for 115 runs and lost by 48 runs. The man of the match award went to Sujit Kalbhor of Sujanil.
Meanwhile, Cypress Group gave a tough fight to Capgemini before losing out in a thrilling finish.
Cypress Group, batting first, scored 144 runs in 20 overs. Opener Daulat Kadam scored 28 runs off 20 balls. But the middle order c collapsed quickly. Tailender Vasant Mudholkar was 28 not out off 24 balls.
