The steely resolve is evident in her eyes. ADC (general) Kanwal Preet Brar, who has been on this post for the past two years, is an army officer’s daughter and is among the youngest officers in the state.
A student of economics, Kanwal had barely finished her M Phil in the subject when she got selected in the services. Since then it has been “delightful”, as she puts it.
“Especially when people start accepting you for your result-oriented work, it becomes fulfilling,” says the ADC, who who has remained ADC in Bathinda and Joint Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana. According to her, we have graduated as a society to a level where gender is pushed to the background while efficiency becomes the yardstick.
Though pleased with their attitude, she has a word of advice for Ludhianvis, “There needs to be public involvement, especially in managing issues of traffic chaos and cleanliness. It is difficult for a town to evolve without the participation of its residents.”
With two daughters, Penaaz and Hurnoor, and a boy named Ajitesh, she sure has her hands full. “My husband keeps me going with all the help he provides,” she says.
A quest for the the best and the drive to balance discipline with nobility has made Dr Jasbir Kaur a name to be reckoned with in field of nursing. Presently Principal, College of Nursing, DMCH, this disciplinarian attributes her solid grounding to her time at the Raj Kumari Amrit Kaur Institute of Nursing in Delhi. She brought laurels to the city recently when she was awarded the Centenary Award for her committed work by former president Dr APJ Abdul Kalam on the occasion of Centenary Conference of Trained Nurses’ Association in Mumbai.
