Former Italian prime minister and owner of seven-times European champions AC Milan, Silvio Berlusconi has branded Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli as a rotten apple after it was suggested the forward could make a return to San Siro.
Balotelli who starred for his country in last summer's European Championship, played for Berlusconi's rivals Inter Milan before moving to Manchester City in 2010 and has been linked with a move back to Serie A following his latest training-ground spat with manager Roberto Mancini, the Telegraph reports. While numerous clubs, including Napoli, would be interested in signing Balotelli, the AC Milan owner claimed he would not be joining the queue for his signature. Berlusconi said signing Balotelli was never in his mind, adding that the striker is a rotten apple that could affect every group of player where he goes including AC Milan. The controversial owner was talking on Monday after the FIFA Ballon d''Or gala was held in Zurich.
