ACC Ltd,India's largest cement maker,on Thursday posted a better-than-expected 85 per cent rise in quarterly profit on strong sales volumes. ACC,46-per cent owned by Switzerland's Holcim,said consolidated net profit for the June quarter rose to Rs 4.71 billion ($97 million) from 2.55 billion a year ago. A Reuters poll of 11 brokerages had estimated net profit of Rs 3.88 billion. India's cement industry,the world's second largest,has seen demand reviving in the past few months.
