Act against minister Tikshan Sud: Cong to Vigilance Bureau

The Congress dared Vigilance Bureau to register a criminal case against Local Bodies Minister Tikshan Sud for allegedly allowing illegal felling of lakhs of trees.

The Congress on Sunday dared Vigilance Bureau (VB) to register a criminal case against Local Bodies Minister Tikshan Sud for allegedly allowing illegal felling of lakhs of trees. This after the VB arrested Satinderjit Singh Manta,an aide of Chief Minister’s brother Gurdas Badal.

“The Vigilance Bureau has arrested Manta for felling a few trees but turned a blind eye against Tikshan Sud,the then Forest minister against whom sensational allegations were made by Forest Officer R R Kakkar that the minister was allegedly responsible for illegal felling of nearly two lakhs trees, thereby destroying the forest cover of the state. Will the VB explain this?” said Congress MLA from Bholath,Sukhpal Singh Khaira,to mediapersons.

Khaira said the kind of allegations levelled against Manta are nothing but village-level politics, but the VB didn’t take any action against Tikshan Sud despite serious allegations levelled by Kakkar who also submitted an audio CD in support of his claims.

“Such misuse of Panchayat funds for water courses, school buildings or illegal felling of trees is taking place by Akali goons in every nook and corner of the state’s 12,000 villages. Will the VB have the courage to act against them?” he added.

He said the VB has become a tool and is working at the whims and fancies of the Chief Minister’s family to crush political opponents.

The Congress also demands immediate dismissal of Sud from the Cabinet and free and fair investigation into Kakkar’s allegations.
