The inaugural edition of the India Art Festival held last November in Mumbai was an important milestone, with 26,000 visitors and good sales figures. It seems to make sense then, that this year's edition — to be held between November 28 and December 2 — will be bigger on most counts. Last year, artists and galleries from 20 cities around the world were represented; this year, the number has gone up to 50.
Poet, art critic, curator and cultural theorist Ranjit Hoskote holds the position of convener of the two-day IAF Conversations that he has put together. The idea, he says, is to bring together experts from various fields so as to provide an insight to "an audience comprising art-world insiders as well as newcomers to the domain".
