What happens when you isolate four men and a woman who have lost their memory in a factory and each one casts aspersions on each others characters and doubts intentions? “Be prepared for some fast paced action with several nerve wracking moments,” assures filmmaker Suparn Verma, about his upcoming release Acid Factory, while munching popcorn at PVR Select Citywalk.

The scriptwriter-cum-dialogue writer-cum-director was in town to kick off the Durand Cup final match and was more than willing to speak about his second film. “It took me three years to complete this project. In between, I gave dialogue writing a shot (while writing for Ugly Aur Pagli) and I have finished writing two other Bollywood scripts and also set up my production house that worked on a music video with Asha Bhonsle,” says Verma, 34.

This will be Verma’s second venture as filmmaker after he took a three-year sabbatical from his debut dud, Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena with Fardeen Khan and Koena Mitra. “There were many reasons behind its failure. Low budget, less time and also it was my debut,” says Verma. The dud, how ever, doesn’t seem to have decreased his market value and he currently has nine film scripts and two films to his credit.

From his debut film in 2005 which was a con-flick, Verma is hoping that his first venture in action might hit a chord. Starring an ensemble cast of Fardeen Khan, Manoj Bajpai, Dino Morea, Aftab Shivdasani, Irrfan Khan, Danny Denzongpa and Dia Mirza, the film takes place in a factory and deals with five individuals who have been locked up inside it after an accident. “It is less than two hours long and in very few films of this genre will you find five male actors pitted against a single female actor. And no item song for some masala factor,” he explains, having already begun work on the animation version of Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena called EKEH Version 2.0.
