  • Both were in the Taj on Wednesday evening when terrorists opened fire in Mumbai

The terror attack in Mumbai on Wednesday had several prominent people trapped in the luxury hotels there. Gujarat-based industrialist Gautam Adani and BJP Parliamentarian from Godhra Bhupendrasinh Solanki were among those affected.

Solanki, who is also a member of the Subordinate Legislative Committee in the Lok Sabha, had

returned to Mumbai from Bhubaneshwar where he had gone to attend an official meeting. He had landed at the Taj on his arrival, his office in Delhi said.

“He was in Mumbai on Wednesday, but he is safe. He had left the hotel at night,” said his wife Manharkuvarba at Lunavada in Panchmahals.

Adani, chairman of the Adani Group, describes it as the “most horrible experience” of his life.

He said there were around 150 people in the restaurant at the time of the attack and all were holed up for more than two hours, before they were rescued by army commandos.

He added that all those who were at the Chambers’ were evacuated safely by the commandos.

A senior official in the Adani group also said that after the incident, Adani was so much disturbed that he could not sleep for the rest of night. He had gone to Mumbai on a business visit, he said.
