  • After it lost its aiadmk.org to a portal providing links to Christian cults, satanism and occult, the AIADMK has once again lost its official website, aiadmkindia.org, this time to hackers using the site for ‘social networking’. The staff at the AIADMK headquarters are desperately trying to construct a new site on aiadmkallindia.org.

A senior party leader said J Jayalalithaa had been informed and a new website was under construction. “The website has been hacked. We will not let it happen again,” said the leader. The website was first hacked in 2001 and then “put on sale”. The second website, aiadmkindia.org, has little on its homepage now that identifies with the party. A click on the topics provides links to commercial products and dating sites. The new AIADMK site appears hastily constructed as most of the links cannot be opened. Except for a few press releases and news clips, much of the party information on the website is still inaccessible to visitors.

However, the initiative of a few Amma fans, electadmk.com, constructed during the May 2006 elections, remains in tact. Claiming to be the first online election campaign of a political party in Asia, the website sought votes for her dubbing her as “Amma—The Iron Lady”.
