On a day when BJP's prime ministerial candidate L K Advani filed his nomination for the fifth time from the Gandhi Nagar constituency, Congress hit out at him, saying that a person who has not done anything for his constituency cannot do anything for the country.
"Far from being a decisive leader, Advani has done nothing for Gandhinagar," party spokesperson Jayanthi Natarajan told reporters in New Delhi.
Chief spokesperson of Gujarat PCC Arjun Modhwadia along with AICC General Secretary B K Hariprasad also released a booklet titled "The voice of truth: The hand of Congress in the development of Gujarat" at the AICC briefing comparing the central funds to the state during the NDA and UPA regime and terming the NDA as disastrous for the western state.
"He (Advani) did not bring a single project to Gandhi Nagar. He did not contribute anything for the development of Gujarat. When he could not do anything for his constituency, how can he do anything for the country?" Modhwadia questioned. The comparative study on central funds to Gujarat during the NDA and UPA rule noted that while funds in almost all sectors were multiplied during the UPA regime, the NDA did not give sufficient funds to the state and said injustice was done to the state during the NDA term.
"Advaniji is considered political guru of Narendra Modi. We were under the impression that considering the clout of Advani, Gujarat might have benefited during the NDA regime, but after anaylsing the information, we have found otherwise," Modhwadia said.
