Advani,Modi slam Dikshit govt for ‘piling miseries’ on people

Making an all-out attack on Congress,Modi accused the Delhi government of “total failure” in addressing any of the major problems despite being at the helm of affairs for a decade-and-a-half and asked people not to “leave” the opportunity to defeat the ruling party.

“I am appealing to you not to leave the opportunity to oust the Congress government,” he said,addressing an election meeting at Dakshinpuri in south Delhi where Rahul Gandhi had addressed a rally on November 17 that witnessed a low turnout.

Slamming the Dikshit government on a range of issues,including water scarcity,”failure” of the Bus Rapid Corridor in south Delhi and deteriorating law and order situation,Modi said BJP will ensure good governance and address major challenges facing the city.

“The BRT corridor in Delhi is a total failure while BRT corridor in Gujarat is successful. Because,here there is corruption,” the Gujarat Chief Minister said.

Asking people to remember the brutal gangrape of a 23-year-old woman on December 16,last year,before casting their votes Wednesday,he said,”Delhi is the heart of Hindustan.It is now known as the rape capital of the country.”

In his address,Advani asked people to vote BJP back to power in the Delhi Assembly polls as it has been in exile for more than 14 years.

Exuding confidence of BJP’s victory,Advani said that the Delhi voters have a lot of wisdom and will remove the Congress government that has failed to fulfill their aspirations.

Earlier,addressing a press conference,Advani dismissed the prospects of Aam Aadmi Party in the Delhi assembly election,saying there is “no place for a third party” here.

“Though we could not have a two-party system in India,we (BJP) have ended single party dominance in the country and changed it into a bi-polar polity. But there is no place for a third party here,” he said.

In her address in rallies in Mehrauli and Hari Nagar,Swaraj hit out the Delhi government for failing to check prices of vegetables and other food items

“If BJP comes to to power,steps will be taken to reduce prices within 30 days. The number of subsidised gas cylinders will be increased from nine to 12,” she said.

Asking voters to support BJP,she said the party under leadership of Harsh Vardhan will provide a “clean and efficient” administration.

“The Delhi government has failed on all fronts. This government must be defeated,” she said,while also asking people not to “waste” their votes on small parties.

Addressing two rallies in Laxmi Nagar and Patparganj,senior party leader Jaitley also sharply attacked the Delhi government saying it failed to address major challenges facing the city.

Giving a clarion call for ousting the “corrupt” Dikshit government,former BJP president Gadkari appealed to people to “vote for change” in the December 4 electoral battle and said the party will fulfill all the promises made in its manifesto,

including reduction in power tariff by 30 per cent,if it comes to power.

In his whirlwind trip to many constituencies,Chief Ministerial candidate Vardhan said if voted to power,he will introduce a ‘Prevent Corruption at Source’ mechanism.

“We will minimise citizen’s need to visit government offices and deliver him public services through the internet,” he said.

“Corruption is often the result of excessive regulation. We will simplify rules and procedures to ensure an end to the ‘license-inspector raj’ in Delhi. We must ensure that honest citizens are not unduly harassed,” he said.

“Our government will be India’s first truly online government. All functions of the government such as receiving applications,granting approvals,providing information,procurement and decision-making shall be made transparent and online. This would not only enhance the productivity but also maintain transparency and respect for the system,” he said.

“We will formulate a Code of Conduct for senior government functionaries who will be expected to deliver services to our citizens in an honest,transparent and time-bound manner,” he said.
