Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader L K Advani on Friday reiterated his commitment to build a Ram Temple at Ayodhya during his day-long visit to Keshod.

“I will keep visiting Somnath Temple till the Ram Mandir is built in Ayodhya,” he told mediapersons at the Somnath Temple premises. Advani had arrived at Veraval to make his annual visit to Somnath.

Advani has been visiting the temple on September 25 every year for the last 20 years to mark his Rathyatra.

Recalling the memories of the yatra,he said: “Today,I have come here to offer my prayers on the 20th anniversary of the Rathyatra. The Ram temple should be and will be built at Ayodhya.”

Incidentally on May 31,2005,Advani had expressed his regret over the demolition of the Babri Masjid during his visit to Islamabad.

His remarks that December 6 was the saddest day of his life, led to protests by VHP leader Pravin Togadia, who sought an apology from the BJP leader over the same.

Much though has changed within the Parivar. Advani, who has faced flak within the Parivar over his leadership, has now reiterated his commitment to the Ram temple.

The RSS is also reportedly brokering peace between the VHP and the BJP,while Advani is keeping a low profile in the state affairs.

The Gandhinagar MP,who was accompanied by his daughter Pratibha, also stressed on the need to provide better education and health facilities to the children.

He said India will be a dominant power in the 21st century. Earlier in the day,Advani took part in the Maha-Pooja at the temple.

‘Both Congress,BJP are pro-rich,pro-US’
Only the ultra-Left in India have pro-poor concerns, while both the Congress and the BJP are pro-rich and pro-US,said former BJP ideologue Govindacharya on Friday. He was in the city to release the manifesto of his Rashtravadi Morcha and to extend support to the BJP renegade outfit Mahagujrat Janta Party (MJP). He rejected the bi-polar political framework earlier suggested by Advani and other BJP leaders, saying it was impractical for a country as diverse as India. “The voice of the poor is now heard less in Parliament and more on the roads, which will lead to more instances like Lalgarh,” he said. He said the BJP is now seized with a crisis of credibility, confidence and inherent contradictions. He came down heavily on Advani’s leadership as well as the present-day BJP,saying that he had asked both Advani and Vajpayee to resign in 2005 and disband the BJP. “ The BJP has lost its willpower, and the contradictions are unmanageable. Its Hindutva is spread 180 degrees from Shahnawaz Hussain to Varun Gandhi,” he said, adding that young leadership is required in the BJP,but without the trappings of dynastic tradition. “New generation is fine, but it should not have dynastic rule. This termite has infested the BJP as well,as is evident in Maharashtra,” said Govindacharya.
