Sushma Swaraj dubbed reports of mounting pressure on L K Advani to quit his post as a media creation.

Senior BJP leader L K Advani will not step down from the post of Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, his party colleague Sushma Swaraj said on Wednesday and dubbed reports of mounting pressure on him to quit his post as a media creation.

"Advaniji would not step down from the post of Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha and there were no talks in the party in this regard," Swaraj told reporters in Ratlam.

"It was a media creation," she said, after being asked when she will be elevated as Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and if there was pressure on Advani to quit his post.

On the political crisis in her party in Karnataka, the Deputy Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha said that it had withered as BJP has an inner mechanism to sort out such issues.

To a query, Swaraj said the BJP had taken the right decision at the right time to expel Jaswant Singh from the party, as he had held Sardar Patel responsible for the partition.

"Every BJP worker holds Sardar Patel in high esteem for his contribution to the unification of India," she said.

Describing the recent unruly behaviour of Maharashtra Navniram Sena (MNS) in the state Assembly as "shameful and unfortunate", she said their act of insulting the national language was unpardonable.

Advani to remain By: M.Antony | 12-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward When RSS chief himself categorically reiterated that Mr.Advani's term as the Opposition Leader comes to an end towards end of Jan, 2010, then why Ms.Sushma is misleading the Nation with a wrong information.Of late,It has become customary for the party to issue conflicting messages on an issue. Is it an indication that the party apparatus has been completely buckled under factionalism a prelude to impending disintegration.
GravewardsBy: Hero Vaz | 12-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Advani is the right man to lead the opposition along with the BJP into their graves.
Advani ji and his Retirement By: SVS Subrahmaniam | 12-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Now to talk discuss endorse or contradict about Advaani ji`s stepping down from active politics is irrelevant. I respect Advaani ji, as he is man of his stature and charisma even at the age of 83 years. To me he is the only leader of national identity at all to count in the BJP. All others are with only regional identity like %u201Capne biraadari me uastad pados me anjaan%u201D. So there is no need to make statements on and off to keep him alive in active politics. The debate on his voluntary retirement had come only at the colossal defeat of the party in the last general elections. He would have set an example like any European leader who takes the responsibility for the defeat and quits the post paving way for other to take the reins of the party. He need not resign now as he is only charismatic person in the party if at all to keep the party in tact.
Advaniji is a true nationalistBy: Truth Seeker | 11-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Those who think that Advaniji is just for the sake of "Kursi" have forgotten, that Advaniji made Vajpayee the PM even against the wishes of sangh in 1996 & 1998. If Sonia Gandhi is a saint in giving up the PM post, Advaniji is a bigger saint compared to her, becuase he didnt have any foreign origin issue, still didn't long for the post of PM when he had a chance. This speaks volumes about his integrity.
Seeking Truth By: Real Truth Seeker | 12-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Ignoramous Truth Seeker, keep seeking truth. Advani also has foreign origin. He was born in Pak and Pakis do more harm to India than any other foreigners. Advani has excelled in that being a Paki. He has done more harm than any one else after Jinnah.
Big JokerBy: Raj | 12-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Good joke. Vajpayeee became PM as BJP had no majority and no sane member of JD and all would support a hypocrite and criminal Advani. U r a joker or a big fooooool
Seeking Real TruthBy: Revanth | 12-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward So real truth seaker according to your logic if advaniji is a foreigner, then what about Manmohan Singhji even he is born in same pakistan. So even he is doing harm right? So even he is a paki,if i have to talk in your language. So is great freedom fighter Bhagat Singh even he is born in Faisalabad(liyallpur). Please dont say half truths.
Hollow...By: Roy | 12-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Get your facts right before you talk about integrity...perhaps you are referring to Vajpayee being a hundred times better than the LOW Purush. Do not compare ....even with Congress party functionaries.
Seeking What?By: Revanth's Truth | 12-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Half learned Revanth, why will MMS's foreign status change Advani's status. If other Pakis have done harm to India, Advani has excelled in that. Half-learnd Revanth, Jinnah also was a freedom fighter, not only Bhagat Singh. You r the one who started the foreign issue in this column, not me. Ask your old man to get out with out playing with Sushma.
Advani- a man of dreamBy: Raj | 11-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward This man wanted to be the PM of India even at the cost of dividing the country. Let him at least sit on the Opposition (to PM) chair and die in peace. Or esle, his spirit might wander and create problems! By the way, what is Sushma's connection with him and Rajnath. Why she is more important than Jaswant or Arun SHourie to Advani adn Rajnath? Something is fishy!
