Digvijay Singh said that Advani always said one thing and did the other.

Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh has criticised BJP prime ministerial candidate L K Advani for claiming that he (Advani) was a strong leader.

Singh told reporters in Guna on Tuesday night that Advani always said one thing and did the other. He said that the proof of this was that Advani has described Jinnah as a symbol of communal harmony in Pakistan.

He said that in this chain, there were also contradictory statements given by Advani on the matter of Babri Masjid demolitation and the communal riots in Gujarat.

He ridiculed the BJP's claim of providing a decisive government at the Centre after the Lok Sabha elections.

Singh said that political instability had increased in the country following the rise of regional parties. The Congress leader said that Advani had challenged the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for a public debate only with the idea of getting some cheap publicity.

He said that had Advani been serious, he would have given the same challenge to other Prime Ministerial aspirants.
