New York: Adding to the suspicions of Pakistan's ISI being linked to the Mumbai Terror attacks, Afghanistan said intelligence gathered after the carnage has linked the agency to the unprecedented strike.

Calls were placed from a satellite phone left behind by the attackers to ‘people who were known ISI members or had very strong ties with the ISI,’ Afghanistan's Ambassador to the US T Jawad told the ‘Wall Street Journal’.

Jawad also said there is evidence linking Yusuf Muzammil, the man identified by India as the attacks' chief organiser, to the ISI, but did not provide details.

Meanwhile, the ‘Journal’ in an analytical piece said the US's insistence that Pakistan take strong action against those responsible for the Mumbai terror attacks has ‘aligned’ Washington more closely with the Indian position, but it is unlikely to coax Islamabad to oblige.

"The US is calling on Pakistan to arrest and turn over to India at least some of the suspects in the Mumbai terrorist bombing, aligning the US more closely with a key Indian position," the ‘Journal’ said.

"But Pakistan is unlikely to oblige amid escalating tensions between the nuclear armed South Asian adversaries."

The Indian Government is under a lot of pressure from the public for not doing more to prevent this attack, the paper said quoting an unnamed diplomat.

"And they need for their political purposes to point to something demonstratively that's been done,” the diplomat said, adding, ‘an arrest by Pakistan is a big statement. Ideally there'd be some sort of extradition to India.’

US officials were also quoted as saying that many of the 20 people sought by India from Pakistan aren't linked to the Mumbai attacks and New Delhi shouldn't force Islamabad into a position where it can't make concessions.

Foolish Gujral Doctrine by Common Man on 2008-12-08 08:27:50.967415+05:30
All this terrorism is happening due to the foolish policies of ex prime minister IK Gujral, under Gujral Doctrine he gave unilateral concessions to pakistan and Bangladesh, he stopped all RAW's covert operations in pakistan and Bangladesh, but they did not gave us any compensation in return and increased their terror activities, we should stop all unilateral concessions and give special powers to RAW to reinvent its covert activities in pakistan and bangladesh so that they have to pay a heavy price what they are doing.
US must change terror policy by steph on 2008-12-06 22:42:57.684756+05:30
US politics does not allow India to attack the terror camps in POK nor can it ask Pakistan to hand over the 'most wanted' to India. One must ask wherefrom do these terror camps get fund. It’s well known to the world community. Who created Laden? Where is he now? Which perpetrator of US 9-11 has been brought to justice? What did US get from Iraq war? If we have to be superpower, than we have to ensure our survival first. We can't survive in the world alone if we can't make the whole world survival. It will be futile for India to think of getting US cooperation against Pakistan to safeguard her interest. India must develop world consensus against all those funding terror outfits. The world community must be vocal in responding to US policy on establishment of strategic bases against Russia/China/Iran causing greater tension in the Asian continent. Govt. of India must be cautious in developing strategic relationship with US. Indo-US nuke deal a boon or curse for India to be left on time to judge.
Creation of a caliphate to dominate all of South Asia, well into Central Asia, something akin in its mind to a recreation of the Mughal Empire by Indian on 2008-12-05 12:27:03.944837+05:30
If LeT indeed is planning the creation of a caliphate to dominate all of South Asia, well into Central Asia, something akin in its mind to a recreation of the Mughal Empire, this is a GREAT DANGER to India's sovereignity. We need to remember that we have got freedom only because of World War 2

60 hours of hostage torture done by Pak Terrorists during Mumbai Terror Attack in Nov. 2008:IT IS DESPICABLE TO MENTION THE HORRIFIC ACTS DONE BY PAK TERRORISTS:=====================================================================1. Gouging the eyes2. Cutting fingers3. Pulling the nails of children4. Rape of women and then shooting their privates5. Tying all the hostages6. Pissing on the hostages, especially women, including kids7. Peeling the skin of hostages, especially nipples of women8. Indiscriminate firing at odd places9. Pulling the hair of hostages10. Burning of hostages through grenades. This is not fiction. These are first hand reports from doctors who attended those hostages to confirm death. Most hostages had body parts missing like the ones mentioned above. The doctors have never seen anything more horrific like this before.Conveniently, this is being hidden in the media coverup - jihadi atrocities to fool Indians from uniting.

ISI and Terror by pandit Krishna Narayan Haksar on 2008-12-05 09:41:57.003956+05:30
"US officials were also quoted as saying that many of the 20 people sought by India from Pakistan aren't linked to the Mumbai attacks and New Delhi shouldn't force Islamabad into a position where it can't make concessions" Well, it is this sort of manouvering, going about in circles, finding irrational reasons that frustrate people at large and sustain mistrust, and suspicion against US and Pakistan.I want to know besides a lot of verbosity, and hyperbole, what the hell Pakistan is willing to do. Enough of wanting proof, denying involvement by anyone in Pakistan, denying knowledge and pleading to be a victim, what can Pakistan offer. The country is rife with poverty stricken, Mullah driven young vulnerable people who should otherwise be protected from these vicious murderers who think nothing of butchering their own youth. Short of Serbia Bosnia/Herzogovina solution of bombing Serbs out of the earth, there is nothing that will succeed in protecting US and India. This is the last chance.
Terrorism is the root cause of all evil by sks on 2008-12-05 09:17:39.412511+05:30
No decision should be made in haste. So it is is best to deal with this situation through UN resolution. I bet almost all countries have faced terrorism and it is the root cause of all evil. If Pakistan government is not able to root out terrorism then UN should send its force to help Pakistan to root out this evil.
PAK A TERROR COUNTRY by william on 2008-12-05 09:10:15.827809+05:30
DO YOU TRUST US? Yes theoritically, but practically ? Billions of funds were dumped into the Pakistan? Did they bother to see, where the fund had gone? : to purchase war weapons? to promote terror?

Well,US is doing it's part. UK is doing it's part. Afganistan is doing it's part. What India is doing apart from sacking few waste ministers?India again is showing a timid face and totally looking inactive(unless there is really strong reason which is not shown to public). How long we would look at America for our problems?

the very first and fundamental need of all stae governments is to properly train our police force to handle the gun and also give them regular drills and mock programmes of terroristas attacks. otherwise we cannot create proper security any where. Most of the police personnel lack proper physique due to lack of exercise. such personnel are not fit for the police.will the police and home ministry of all states wake up after CST carnage in the full presence of policemen
Mumbai attack and Pakistan. by narayanee on 2008-12-05 00:16:52.033851+05:30
First of all I don't understand why ,US is playing a big brother between us. This is the one between India and Pakistan.Pakistan will keep on saying that it would co operate. It has two faces. One civilian. And another ISI.Still, they are all from Pakistan.Mumbai attack, calls for direct action by India. Will US or Israel keep quiet if it had happened in their land. Not only that, is it a first attack?indian political bosses would have to do lot of home work , before going to Mumbaikars , for next polls. It is attack on our dignity. No compromise.Just no compromise. It is the duty of Pakistan to turn over Dawood and other terrrorists or India must take them from Pakistan soil. It is as simple as such.

So What Should India Do? by Jack Nathan on 2008-12-04 23:06:14.310225+05:30
Here is a strategic lens on the matter. This particular form of terror has a specific entry point - namely, a marine attack. The appropriate riposte to Pakistan is actually conceptually simple. India should set up a naval blockade of all vessels inbound into Karachi and outbound from Karachi for a specific period of time, say two weeks. An Indian armada should stand outside Pakistan's territorial waters and stop vessels such as trawlers, who head out into the Arabian Sea.http://www.thestrategiclens.blogspot.com/

Here is one solution by anonymous on 2008-12-04 22:49:29.304972+05:30
Pakistan will never get rid of the terrorist. Why? There is too much incentive for the govt to keep them around. As long as they are around, the world community pays Pakistan attention and gives them, aid/assistance to solve the problem. Its obviosu most of this aid goes into the pockets of the politicians. Now that they have Mr 10% (or is it 30%) running the country, we can expect less out of the govt. India should just attack and take over Pakistan. As long there is a corrupt govt in Pakistan, they will continue to develop and harbor terrorists.
political will by Popal Das on 2008-12-04 22:22:46.07372+05:30
Indian youth are not taking their responasability. The highly qualified, experienced and not corrupt youth should erect new political parties and win the elections. If needed, they can always consult the elder when framing policies!
